Question 4

What is a "skirted spool" fixed spool reel?
Answer 4 The original fixed spool reels had a spool that was contained within a rotating cup. It was easy for fine line to get caught in the space between the spools base and the rotating cup causing it to jam. The skirted spool negates this problem by doing away with the rotating cup and replacing it with a rotating socket over which the spool fits. All modern fixed spool reels use the skirted spool system.
